IMPORTATION OF MOTORS.

AMERICAN CARS IN THE VAN. A statistical record of the number of motor cars and motor cylces imported into New Zealand during 1924, and which was received from lI.M. Customs Department at yesterday’s meeting of the Munawatu County Council, revealed that during the year 19,378 cars and 4110 cycles had passed through the Customs. America far outdistanced the United Kingdom in the matter of export of cars to New Zealand, the former sending 10,454, as against 1447 by tho Mother Country. Canada is, however, proving a keen competitor with its neighbour, the number of cars exported by that Dominion to New Zealand being no less than 7088. In regard to motor cycles the United Kingdom reverses positions with the United States, the former exporting 2230 machines to New Zealand, as against 1838 by its American competitor. Auckland and Poverty Bay districts, which were included together for statistical records, took one-third of the importations in each instance, while the Wellington Province took delivery of 4283 cars and 937 cylces.
