THEFT OF MONEYS.

MAN PLEADS GUILTY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. A man with a good war record had his war wounds set down as the indirect cause of the theft to which he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The man, Nathaniel John Reed, aged 37, pleaded guilty to charges of having failed to account for £26 9s to B. N. R. McDonald, of "Wanganui. Chief Detective Gibson said that accused had collected the money in connection with an art union conducted in "Wanganui. He had a good war record, and was respected until he began to lead a fast life. Accused was admitted to three years’ probation.
