GIRL KILLED.

PINNED AGAINST WALL. CAR DRIVER SENT FOR TRIAL. SYDNEY, Oct. 23. Mary Yahl, aged 15, was killed in a. motor accident at Parramatta, on the afternoon of Sunday, October 11. She was pinned against the wall of a chemist’s shop by a motor car that swerved off the road in avoiding a collision with another car. The Parra.matta Coroner to-day held an inquiry into the smash. Constable Hackett said that Kenneth Quinton, driver of the first car, had told him that he was doing 15 miles an hour, and that the driver of the other car, Christian Backhouse, had failed to put his hand out when stopping. Backhouse declared that Quinton was doing 30 miles an hour, and Alfred Russell, consulting engineer, said that the foot brake of Quinton’s car was ineffective. Quinton, in evidence, said the accident was caused through his endeavouring to avoid a collision. He was travelling slowly, and had blown his horn. He was supported by other witnesses. The coroner returned a verdict of manslaughter against Quinton, and committed him for trial.
