MANAWATU RABBIT BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The election, of seven trustees to the Mana-.vatu Babbit Board was held yesterday. A good deal o£ interest was evinced in the poll and the following are the results: —J. McKclvic 244, John Gloyn 2Stl, Ralph Boswell 227, W . IV Barber ZzZ, F. C. Raikes 222, T. A. Grammar 189, B. G. Gower 187, all elected, W. H. Ginmlett 156, F. J. Eogg 166, F. Woods 159, James Davey 148. TENNIS CLUB. The official opening of the Foxton Tennis Club took place on Saturday afternoon in ideal weather. There was a good attendance and the president (Mr C. Simmons), in bis opening address, referred to the poor condition in which the courts were in this year but explained that, owing to the smallness of the present courts, the club bad decided not to expend any moro money on thorn, with a view to obtaining another site where it would be possible to lay down four more courts, lie wished the club a successful year and filled on Mrs R. McMurray to play the first ball. A Yankee tournament was then arranged and play was indulged in during the afternoon. The secretary (Mr C. Proctor) is deserving of praise for his indefatigable efforts to make the opening day a success. In the tournament Mrs McMurray and Miss R. l’erreau tied for first place in the ladies’ games, Mrs McMurray winning in the play off. Mr L. C. Bryant won the men’s prize. The president presented tho prizes (two pair of balls, donated by Mrs Hay), and in doing so thanked tho donor. Afternoon tea was presided over by the ladies. SALE OF WORK. A sale of work, under the auspices of All Saints’ Ladies' Guild, was held in the Masonic Hall on Friday afternoon. Tho bazaar was highly successful and in the evening was brought to a close with a dance. Over £25 was collected. The correct guess in the “Black Cat’’ competition was recorded by Mrs Heasman.
