OUTBREAK OF FIRE.

MR JORGENSEN’S RESIDENCE GUTTED.

The residence of Mr O. A. Jorgensen, 170 College street, was completely gutted by fire early this morning. Owing to the occupants being absent from town the Fire Brigade did not receive advice until the outbreak had a good hold. "When they arrived they found that the house was alight from end to end and, despite excellent water pressure, they -were able to do little. So great was tho heat that Mr C. Mowlem’s residence, 30 or 40 feet away, was scorched. Nothing was saved, and the building is practically a total loss. The cause for the conflagration is not known, and the insurances are unavailable. For some time prior to the alarm being given several nearby residents had heard the noise of tho fire, but had mistaken it for rain.
