BAND CONCERTS.

WANGANUI SILVER BAND. At the Salvation Army Citadel on Saturday evening the Wanganui Silver Band gave a delightful concert to a iaro-e and appreciative audience. Ihe visit of the band is being made with the object of assisting the local effort which is made every year on Band Sunday.” Prior to the concert the visitors were welcomed by Adjutant Canty of the local corps and Bandmaster L. York, Bandmaster V llson responding. Following the exchange of greetings, the local bandsmen entertained their comrades at tea. Ihe programme was as follows: March, “Seattle” ; vocal solo, “Ora Pro Nobis,” Mr L. Randall; selection, “Discipicship” ; orchestral selection, “Sunset on the St. Lawrence,” orchestral partv; cornet solo, “When Song is Sweet,” Bandsman L. Francis; hymn, “Lead, Kindly Light”; violin solo, “Cavatina,” Bandsman R. Davis; selection from Haydn’s “Creation” ; vocal solo, “Brian of Glenaar,” Bandsman P. Francis; ocarina solo, Bandmaster Wilson; selection, “Beethoven” ; musical item, “Bright and Farlv,” Fireside Four; vocal duet, “Flow Gently, Dcva,” Bandsmen It. ami P. Francis; orchestral selection, “On to Triumph,” orchestral party; hymn, “Lead, Kindly Light” (new setting). On Sunday afternoon the following programme was rendered to a large and appreciative audience in the Esplanade: March, “Wellington”; hymn, “Accrington” ; air varie, “Lux Benigana”; hymn, “Maidstone” ; selection, “Songs of Britain”; march, “Westgate” ; selection, “Soldier’s Experience.” fn the evening the hand gave another programme at the rotunda in the Square, when there was quite a large gathering present, the selections being as follow: March, “Flag of Freedom”; cornet duet, “Whispering Hope” ; selection, “Discipleship”; selection, “Memories from the Master” ; hymn. “Jesus of Nazareth” ; march, “Under Two Flags.” PORT NICHOLSON BAND. The Port Nicholson (Wellington) Silver Band attracted large numbers to the Palace Theatre last night when, in addition to band numbers, several vocal items were rendered, the concert being most enjoyable. Following was the programme :— Hymn, “Brntl-

ford”- (Owen) ; overture, “Morning, Noon and Night” (Suppe), band; song, “Take a Pair ol : Sparkling Eyes” (Sullivan), by Leigh Dew; humorous fantasy, “Three Blind Mice” (Greenwood), the band; cornet solo, “Australis” (Lithgow), Bandsman W. G. Stevenson; grand selection, “Lohengrin” (Wagner), the band: song, “Angus McDonald” (Roeckol), Miss Eileen Kimbell; pot pourri, “Musical Switch” (Alford), tho band; march, “Port Nicholson” (A. Don). This march was specially composed and dedicated to the band by Mr Archie Don.
