BOXING CONTESTS.
MURRAY-TROAVERN .MATCH DRAWN. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, Oct, 25. The professional boxing contest, Les Murray. (9.10) versus Reg. Trowern (9.10) went the full fifteen rounds, providing a clean, even bout. Trowern used his left very effectively, while Murray was rather superior at infighting. The decision was a draw. In the preliminaries lvieley beat Purton and Cotter beat Morresy.
PAYNE DEFEATS PARKER. AVILLING FIGHT JN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, Oet. 24. At the Stadium Tiger Payne (American coloured fighter) outed Parker (New Zealander) in the thirteenth round. The going was hard and willing. Parker forced the fighting and at close quarters had a decided advantage, but Payne used his right to great advantage, thrice flooring tho New Zealander. Parker in tho last three rounds apepared to have his opponent beaten, hut then a heavy swing downed Parker. AATien he rose ho was again downed and was still on tho floor when the hell rang. After the fight a doctor had to attend to both boxers. Parker had , four stitches placed in wounds of the scalp and. left eye, while Payne needed a couple for his light eye.—Press Assoociation.
