OFFER OF SHARES.
MADE BY DR. EDMUND STINNES. LABOUR LEADERS NONPLUSSED LONDON, Aug. 16. Tlie Alorniug Post’s Berlin correspondent says that Dr. Edmund Stinnes’ unprecedented action in offering half his share in his motor works at Berlin to his work jieoplehas astonished the financial world. The Stinnes family has complained most bitterly of the means which a consortium of all the leading banks have adopted in the liquidation of the Stinnes properties, which they alleged resulted in the depreciation of tlie assets. Dr. Edmund Stinnes until recently practised medicine. He had little business experience, but bad shown determination to outwit the banks, which avowedly are to regain a controlling voice in Germany’s industrial affairs. If the workers accept the offer, tho Prussian Government will probably be forced to finance the undertaking to keep it going. The offer has nonplussed tho Labour leaders, who had constantly denounced the Stinnes family.—A. and N.Z. cable.
