FATAL FALL.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 19. The death occurred in hospital last night of Cecil Dane Shepherd, a labourer, aged 33, who fell from Winstone’s jetty. Customs Street West, into the water yesterday. Deceased, who was partially blind, was employed as a labourer at the Blind Institute, Parnell. He had been delivering goods and was standing at the end of the jetty, when he tripped and fell 12 feet on to a cargo of telegraph poles on the deck of the scow Hero, then rolled into three feet of water. He was rescued by a seaman from the scow and taken to hospital, where death ensued.
