The Railway Department is ascertaining the views of the people in the district served by what is popularly knows as "Field’s Express.” which leaves Wellington daily tor Palmerston North, as to whether an earlier time of departure from Wellington would ho more suitable.
Since the Into 4.13 p.m. train from Wellington was discontinued, there is no train serving the Manawatu district after the train which leaves the eitv. at 8.55 a.m., with the exception of the Napier express, which slops only at Levin, and the New Plymouth express, which stops only at Otaki. The department is inquiring whether it would he more convenient to these dependent upon the railway- timetable in the Manawatu district if “Field's Express” left Wellington at an earlier hour than at present.
