SHANNON NOTES.

There was only a small attendance of ladies at the meeting called by Mr R. Tippler, chairman of the school committee, on Wednesday afternoon, but those present, with the addition of a few more who had signified their willingness to assist, formed themselves into a working .committee to devise ways arid means of raising about £SO towards getting a piano for the senior school. Mrs Bovis was voted secretary, and it was decided to hold a street stall on Saturday, J line 20, when contributions of all kinds will he accepted by the committee. It is also’hoped to run a hard-up dance at a later date, and the committee would bo duly thankful for assistance of any kind which would help to raise this.sum of money. The ladies of tho committee are: Mrs Bovis (.ti'crelary), . Mesdatnee R. Tippler, Blackwood, Phillips, Satherley, Hilaries, Morgan, Nurse Linklater, with power to add if necessary. The Mayor presided at a meeting of the Domain executive on Wednesday evening. The secretary reported chat the sum of £345 was in hand, and liahilitiesMo be paid were £lls. The meeting resolved to donate the following sums to the. Shannon Borough Council to carry out improvements on the domain: —New fence £4O. removing old fence £5, lighting donation £25, turnstile at corner of Whittaker and Stout streets £5, painting and repairing pavilion £ls; total £9O. A start wus mado yesterday with the drain ploughing of tho domain.
