PROSPECTS FOR WOOL
LONDON SALES TO-MORROW,
HOPE FOR SOUND BASIS. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright) ■Received March 9, 9.25 a.m. LONDON, March 8. The newspapers give prominence to a grower’s statement from Australia that Bradford interests are responsible for bearing the wool market and also the counter suggestions that growers should act as a check ou the buyers’ tactics. The feeling is still held in Bradford that the growers attempted to “rig” the market by holding back merinos. In that connection a wool expert, writing in the Economist, says: “Nobody is gravely concerned at the cutting down of the Australian catalogues ; everybody knows the wool is there and must reappear sooner or later. The whole trade awaits the London sales on Tuesday in the hope that a sound basis for values will be established. There was no justification for the buyers entering the Australian market in September and buying as they did. If a return to saner values leads to increased business, everybody will be glad.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
