FLOOD IN ADELAIDE

CAUSED BY CLOUDBURST. MEN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Reoeived February 7, 9.55 a.m. ADELAIDE, Feb. 7. A cloudburst over the city caused tho streets to be flooded. The water poured over the kerbstones into practically every basement in the city, end considerable damage was done. The Government meteorologist estimates that a hundred million gallons of water fell in the city proper. Five inches of rain were registered in two and a-quarter hours. Tho downpour was heaviest in north Adelaide.

Two civil servants were struck by lightning while standing at an office window, but they were not severely injured. A young woman was swept off her feet while attempting to cross a flooded street and was carried into a culvert, where she was rescued with extreme difficulty.—Press Association.
