NEW YORK, Dec. 22. Many centres suffered one of the worst Decembers within memory. The monster liner Leviathan was delayed for 24 hours by a gale off the coast.

Urwle Sam's first air mailman, Charles Gilbert, evidently became lost i;n a fog during the terribly cold weather while crossing Nebraska. His machine crashed, and Gilbert, though badly injured, wandered for a mile before he collapsed and froze to death.
