BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.

FIGURES FOR PAST YEAR.

During the year 1924 30 petitions in bankruptcy were filed in the local Supreme Court as compared with 38 in 1923. Of the 1924 total eight were those of farmers. The remaining 22 petitions wwe filed by bankrupts in various callings as follow: Builders, 3; bootmakers, 2; pork butchers, 2; commission agents, 2: printers, 2; land agent's clerk, crockery merchant, poultry farmer, carrier, sharemilker, electrician, warehouseman, labourer, engineer, market gardener and ■ hotelkeeper, one each.■ .
