THE STAINES' CASE.

BOAED INQUIRY HELD.

OHAKUNE, Jan. 6. The committee appointed by the Wanganui Hospital Board to inquire' into charges against the Waimarino Hospital made by Mr and Mrs J. W. Staines, of Pokaka, as the result of the death of their' daughter, held the inquiry to-day. Mr Fletcher, chairman of the board, presided, and there were also present: Messrs Battle, Ritchie, Rogers, Halligan and the secretary, Mr Kerby. The inquiry opened at 9 a.m. and concluded at 1 p.m. Tho committee also inqnired into thewholi* question of the administration and purpose of the hospital, about which there is much dissatisfaction. Doctors Fehfham, Boyd and Cook were asked to put in writing their ideas regardmi* improvements. ' These, and the eorn> niittee's report' regarding the Staines' charges, will come before the board at its next meeting.
