"WORLD WILL MARVEL."

FUTURE OF BRITISH EMPIRE. LONDON, Dec. 24. "Conversations with" prominent business men and politicians convince me that there are as many great men in Britain to-day as at any time in history," says Sir John Vicars, of Sydney. "Now that the public are behind them, enormous Empire developments are certain during the next decade. In London the extensive rebuilding schemes reflect the deep-rooted commercial confidence, and are symptomatic of the great economic reconstruction which Britain is undergoing in magnificently overcoming tremendous economic odds, and proving to the world again that her word is her bond. ENHANCED PRESTIGE. "France and Italy will inevitably suffer for selfishly refusing to pay their debts to the nation which saved them from the conqueror's heel. America's greed has ostracised her in the minds of thinking people. "Britain to-day," Sir John went on, "is like a youth struggling with early difficulties. The resourcefulness she is displaying will enable her to emerge triumphantly with an enhanced prestige. A newer spirit is permeating Britain, the Dominions and the colonies, and will carry the Empire forward to a more gjorious future, at which the rest or the world will marvel,"
