GOLF ASSOCIATION.
AIONTHLY AIEETING. The monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association was held at the secretary’s office at. Wellington on Aionday afternoon, when there were present: Afessrs R. C. Kirk (chairman), J. B. AlacEwan (vice-chairman), W. E. A. Gill, A. D. S. Duncan, 11. R. Balneavis, Captain Conway, and Air C. 0. Sutton (secretary). The chairman, on behalf of tho council, welcomed Captain Conway, a new member, who in replying promised to give his best services in the interest of the game. Air W. H. AlacDougall, Christchurch, advised that he had ordered from England a silver cup which he has given us a challenge trophy in connection with the professionals’ championship. Tho Otago Rugby Football League wrote 1 enquiring whether members of Rugby Leugue football clubs and League officials were eligible to join golf clubs and play in competitions under this association’s jurisdiction in New Zealand. It was resolved by the council as follows—“Alembers of Rugby Leugue footbull clubs und League officials nre not, by reason of that fact alone, ineligible to join golf clubs in New Zealand as amateur golfers.” With regard to the engagement of professionals from Horne, it wus resolved to send, a brief week-end cable to Mr Roberts or Mr Abbott asking them what progress they huvo made in the matter.
