VISITOR’S TRIBUTE.
A veiiy fine tribute to the Plunket work in New Zealand was paid by Dr. J. Cumpston, chief health officer of the Commonwealth, in an. interview at Auckland yesterday. Dr. Cumpston has been investigating the methods followed by tho public health authorities in the centres of Great Britain and America, while at Paris he attended a conference of Government health inspectors. Dr. Cumpston can thus speak with a large measure of authority on his observations, and in saying that the Plunket system operating in New Zealand is better organiscd°and controlled, and more widely distributed, than anything he had seen in the United States, he is paying a graceful compliment to those who have perfected this method of saving child life. High praise is also bestowed oil the system of dental control of children in Neyv Zealand, anything better than which he has not seen on his travels abroad. Dr. Cumpstori’s remarks, it is hoped, will lead to a greater (appreciation by New Zeulanders of these very fine services, which are deserving of their wholehearted support.
