SHANNON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The cricket championship was advanced another stage on Saturday when Weraroa defeated Shannon at Shannon by 18 runs on tho first innings. Scores: Weraroa, first innings.—France 11, Jennings 0, Warner 13, Condon 3, Sloan 2, Bull 1, Gallagher 5, Hall 6, Hudson 0, Grey 3, Young 1; byes 3, total 48. Shannon, first innings.-—Hemmingson 9, Bentley 0, Hunt 0, Doidge 0, Burrows 2, A 1 organ 0, Johnson 3,, Bishop 11, Smith 1, Wilson 2, Burber 0; byes 2, total 30. The following rinks will represent Shannon for the final games in connection with the triangular shield :—B. Spencer, Bovis, Gunning, ,E. Spencer (skip.); Hook, Butt, Roach, Quarrie (skip); H. Butt, Cooper, Clayton,' Gugliardi (skip). The installation of officers of the local Druids’ Lodge was held on Thursday evening. The installation was conducted by D.P. Bro. J. Crowther, who installed the following officers: —Bro A. Mason A.D.; Bro. W. Quarrie J.P.A., Bro J. Duschenski V.A., Bro. A. Graham 1.G., Bro. H. Williams 0.G., Bros W. Terry and R. McKenzie A.B, Bros. J. Alexander and A. Payne V.B. A dance was held during the evening, the music being supplied by the Bluck and White orchestra. Air H. Hook officiated as ALC.
