FRENCH DEBT TO AMERICA.
INQUIRIES BY BRITAIN. Received December 6, 11.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 5. London reports that tho British Gqvernmont is expected to address an inquiry to Washington asking for information regarding tho funding of the French debt to the United States, the news of which has been received with marked surprise by officials in close touch with the debt situation.’ It is authoritatively stated that no intimation eaine from London or the British Embassy indicating that tho London Foreign Olfice proposed to tuke such a step. It is also assorted that much of the agitation in tho London press, expressing fear that the French will bo uccorded more favourable terms than those allowed to Britain, is unwarranted.—Reuter.
