WOMEN’S NOTES
Miss E. Piorcey, who a week ago sustained severe injuries through being thrown from bar motor cyole while proceeding along the Longburn road, is now convalescent. She was able to leave her bed to-day and in well on tho road to recovery.
Tho engagement is announced of Miss Muriel Dent, daughter of the Rev. G. W. Dent, of Palmerston North and formerly of Groytown, to Mr Richard Louglman, youngest son of Mr C. A. Loughnan, of Palmerston North. Miss Leila Bridgman, naional chief councillor of tho Citizens’ Movement of Australia and New Zealand, arrived in Wellington by the Muheno. Miss Bridgman will be the leader of the girl citizens’ conference to be field at Solway, Mastorton, from December 27 to January 2. Some of tho members of the Dominion Y.W.C.A. girls’ work committee met to welcome Miss Bridgman and to discuss plans for conference. Tho final dance for tho year was held under the auspices of the Municipal Band in the Band Hall on Saturday evening, decorations and the hall presented a pleasing sight. Excellent music added to the enjoyment of tho patrons who danced until a late hour. Supper was provided by the ladies’ committee. - Mr J. R. Smith was M.C.
