The general council of -.the Trade Union Congress lias appointed a subcommittee to evolve'a scheme for carrying out the Hull Congress resolution in favour of a reduction of the number of trade unions, in order to present a united front for the improvement of the workers’ standard of life. It is hoped to reduce the 1135 unions affiliated to the Congress to 50, or less—A. and N.Z. cable.
