CYCLONIC STORM

MUCH DAMAGE IN QUEENSLAND. SEVERAL BUILDINGS WRECKED. [By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] Received December 8, 11 a.m. BRISBANE, Dec. 8. A cyclonic storm that struck the town ol‘ Blackball did considerable damage. Trees were uprooted and telegraph and telephone wires tom down. The Town Hall collapsed and took with it part of the roof of tlio telegraph office which adjoined. Shops and offices in the business part of the town were wrecked, while several houses also fared badly.. The electric lighting system was thrown out of order.

Following the wind came torrential rain, which added to the disaster. Full details are not yet available owing to the lines of communication still being down.—Press Association.
