MOTOR CARS COLLIDE.

MANUKAU ROAD INCIDENT. CAR FORCED THROUGH FENCE. A violent collision occurred between two motor cars in Manukau road, Auckland, about half-past eight on Thursday morning, and the impact forced one of the vehicles on to the footpath and partly through a resident’s front fence. Fortunately no one was injured. The accident was brought about by one motor turning in front of another. It had proceeded down Manukau road until near Garfield street. After pasing a tram-car, also bound for the city, the driver swung his car round to return up the strqet, and apparently failed to notice the other motor approaching from town. The turning car struck the other a heavy blow on the right-hand side near the driver, and forced it over the footpath and into the boundary fence. Here it halted with the lefthand wheel through the palings. Both mudguards and head-lamps were buckled, but more serious damage was that sustained by the front axle and steering rod. The other car was not so seriously damaged and was able to proceed on its way with a broken running hoard the only indication of the collision. Both motors were taxis. The motorman of a Remuera ear which was following the motor down the street, quickly applied his brakes when lip saw the collision in front of him, and so further possible trouble was avoided.
