. RETREAT OK CHANG. MANY KILLED AND WOUNDED. Received October 21. i 1.15 am. PEKIN, Oct. 21. A Chimvangtao message states that a J fierce battle raged throughout yesterday on -the Shanhaikwan front, (Tiang-tso-lin’* ; forces making continuous attacks, which were repulsed. Towards nightfall the latter retreated, leaving a large number of killed j and wounded. The siluutiou to day is 1 quiet.—A. and N.Z. cable.
