RAILWAYMEN’S HOURS.
RESULT OF THE BALLOT
Pe r Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. “1. The Minister ol Railways announced to-night the result of the railway ballot oil tlm 44-hour week as follows:

Thp Minister added that the Govern merit will give effect to the decision.
The issues placed before the men were: (i) A 44-hour week, with overtime at rate and a-haif for all time worked in excess of eight hours on each of tho first five lays of the week and four on Saturday. The hourly rates of wages to remain as at present, and a guarantee to he given of 44 hours pav weekly. (1.) A 48-hour week, with overtime at rate anil ahull' I'm all lime worked in excess ol eight hours anil three-quarters, on eaeli of tin* first live days of the week and lour Pour* and a quarter on Saturday. The hourly rates of wages to remain as at present. and a guarantee to be given of 48 hours pay weekly.
