GOLF NOTES.
A telegram has been received from the secretary of the Levin Golf Club regretting that a number of its players are unable to come up for the match to-morrow. The following are unable to come:— W. I. Park, C. H. liowld. S. McKenzie. E. T. O'Donnell, Smaill, L. G. Harris and J. Chalhes. Unfortunately, therefore, the local men drawn with" them will lose their games. These are as follow: E. V. Spear, J. Garter, W. B. Tennant. 11. Knight, J. Cumberworth. A. Osterman and T. Stubbs, but these men have all been definitely picked to play in the return match at Levin on Saturday, July 12th. The Levin Club has wired to say that its ' players will be coming up by the New Plymouth express, so luncheon will be held at 12,30, and an early start made with the matches. The order of play is as follows, the visitors being mentioned first: K. G. Biss plays W. Christie (acting-captain); P. H. Harper plays F. J. Ncwenham; G. C. Prance plays O. Mead: J. Connor plays P. L. Sim; H. Kilsby plays M. H. Oram; C. Hosio plays F. J. Nathan ; K. E. Adams plays B. Keiller; Rev. Harris plays A. Wright; M. J. Suhan plays J. J. Stevenson ; W. Thorns plays R. Spencer; K. Scoon plays 'A. Hopwood; C. G. Wilson plays A. Torstonson. Anyone not able to play is requested to idvisa tho honorary secretary at once. DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP. LONDON, June 25. At Holylake, the long golf driving championship was won by J. Smith, of Cantelupe, with the best aggregate in three out of four drives of 236 yards two inches, 247 yards two feet, and 244 yards one foot, aggregate 778 yards. Mitchell's aggregate was 666 yards one foot, and Duncan's 653 yards. —A. and N.Z. cable.
