WHY NOT?
MOVIES OF THE RUGBY, TESTS. A SCHEME WORTH CONSIDERING "We get motion pictures of the big boxing contests and other matters of general interest out here, so why not a moving picture of, say, the test Rugby matches between England and the All BlacksP There's money in it." These were the words of a Rugby enthusiast to a N a P» er Daily Telegraph reporter. "This could be done, and done easily," continued the enthusiast. "Say for instance," he went on, "that such pictures were taken of the test matches, what a crowd they would draw in New Zealand, and what a lot of boosting they would give the game. My ider. is that the pictures should be taken by the British Rugby authorities and then be handed over to the New Zealand Rugby Union. The latter union would have full Dominion rights, and the picture would be shown in all towns in New Zealand. After the payment of expenses the profits could be divided fifty-fifty between the local Rugby unions or sub-unions and the New Zealand controlling body. "Yes, the pictures coidd be shown in Australia a>i well as England. In these countries I would suggest that New Zealand and English Unions have dual control and-divide the profits ac & cordingly. "The picture, of course, would be the 'official' movie, and it should be worth thousands. I don't know of such a scheme having been attempted before, but in view of its possibilities it is worth serious consideration, and I think the New Zealand. Union would be making v. wise move in going into it as soon as they can."
