HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.

The weeklv meeting of the executive of the Maiiawatu Hockey Association was held last night, Mr C. Aitchisen presiding. A letter Was received from the Rosea Ladies' Ulub asking fOf permission for the transfer, of two players from Technical Glub,—lt was decided to reply stating that, provided the plavers were financial with the Technical Club, and transfers agreed to, the executive would noC oppose them. The matter of tontihuiilg the mens Saturday competitions Was discussed at length. The failure of players to take the held Was commented 6fi and the suggesj tion was made that one team be formed ■for the purpose of playing outside clubs. Another suggestion was that the strength of tiie teams be reduced to seven. The chairman expressed the opinion that it would be detrimental to the game to drop the competition. He stated that when the teams had beer, drawn up it wa9 done with' the object of bringing new plavers in. It was eventually decidej to carry on as hitherto until next Saturday, the position to be reviewed at the next meeting. Irt the meantime, the players are to be interviewed with a view to obtaining a full muster. The following were appointed to reorganise the teams: Messrs Harvey (United B), V. Turner (United A), Heorfield (Pirates B) and V. Tucker (Pirates B) The MahnWatu Rugby Union was granted the use of thft oval on Saturday for the match with Poverty Bay, and the ladies' matches in consequence will be played on the outside ground. The condition of the Rongotea ground and also the dressing accommodation there came up for discussion. It was stated that, as a direct result of the condition of the ground, three players had received injury last Saturday. A motion that no more games be plaved on the Rongotea ground until it Is put in order was carried. The Bunnvthorpe committee is to be written to asking it to carry Ottt improvements to the local ground Now that sticks are available for the use of school boys, it was decided to commence the school competitions immediately, the masters to be approached with a view td completing arrangements. On the motion Of the chairman, it was decided to donate £5 towards the cost of purchasing sticks for the use of scholars. It was resolved to ask the Manawatu Referees' Association to have all referees graded. WEDNESDAY'S MATCHES. The draw for the Wednesday competitions which commence this week resulted
