GERMAN DISTRESS
INDUSTRIAL REACTION.
PLIGHT OF INDUSTRIALISTS.
By Electric. Telegraph—Copyright. Received June 9, 9.10 a.m. LONDON, June 8. Following upon the inflated mark period, Germany is suffering a big industrial reaction. The industralists spent the big profits made during the inflation period in re-equipping and modernising their factories, and they are now unable to work them owing to the shortage of capital. The prices of most goods are too high to export as they ate above the world's level. The home trade has also slumped and credit is severely restricted, the interest on loans ranging from 13 to ?0 per cent. Tho liquidation of large stocks is expected at a considerable los3, which will disturb international trade. The Finance Minister's policy aims at forcing down prices to enable Germany to compete in the world's markets. —Sydney Sun cable.
