WAGES FOR BOYS.

LARGE SALARIES NOT DESIRABLE Received March 20, 10.20 a.m. MELBOURNE, March 20. Justice Sir John Quick, in the Arbitration Court, when dealing with boys’ wages in the insurance staffs’ claims, endorsed the companies’ argument that it was not desirable that hoys’ salaries should be above their station in life and requirements. He said that this tended to encourage inflated ideas of their self-import-ance and also extravagance. It was better that they wait till they were of a more mature age. He fixed the starting wage at 15 yeurs at £SO, with annual increases to £2OO at 21. —Press Association.
