SHOP ASSISTANTS.
(Per Press .Association.) WELLINGTON, March 17. The Dominion award for shop assistants was filed to-day. The_ minimum wage for workers under 15 years is males 13s 6d and females 10s fad, rising as follows: 15 to .16 years, males 16s 3d, females 13s 6d: 16 to 1/, 22s 6d and 17s 9d ; 17 to IU, 30s and 21s, 18 to 19, 42s 6d and 25s 3d; 19 to 20, 55s and 30s; 20 to 21, 65s and Jos; 21 to 22, 80s and 41s 22 to 23, 80s and 47s 6d; 23 and over, 92s 6u and 52s 6d. There is a different scale for employees starting withou ; previous experience. Window dressers and departmental managers are to get not less than £5 2s 6d ; departmental manageress, not less than £3 2s od, junior storemen and peckers under 17 years, £1 3s 6d, rising to £2 18s fad between 20 and 21 yet .rs and thereafter the minimum wi.ge. The hours will he bitween 8 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on four 'dttfs, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on one day, and to 8.30 p.m. on the other day. Outsidfa a ten miles’ radius of Auckland. Wellington and Dunedin 6 p.m. is substituted fot 5.30. . . . ’ ~ Overtime is fixed at ume and a-lmlt witli a minimum payment of Is 3d per hour. The term of the award is three years.
