SOLDIERS' CRAVES.
WORK OF LOCAL R.S-A
At last night's meeting of the R.S.A. executive committee a communication was received from ffifl Department of Internal Affairs, War Graves Division, stating that, ifl eases where soldiers had been laid to rest; in farnily plots, small concrete bases had beet provided and the headstones erected in lme with any other- stones that might be on the plot. Up to the pteaent the Palmerstoh North Association had very generously undertaken the cost of all work on the) war gfates in the Palmerston North cemetery; but should the association care to be- relieved of this cost, the Government.would, carry out the work at'.any' time. ' " ' It Was decided to' rCply to the effect that the fuhds of the association now only pefntittetf the erection of headstories and. the' association would prefer the Government to undertake the erection of the concrete kerbing. Future oases.would, however, be considered individually. • In this connection the local association is extending its activities towards the erection .of headstones, etc., on the graves of returned men which the Government do not consider war grajres.
