Tho auction was characterised by a largo attendance, tmd buyers were present from all parts of the North Island, included in the Jistricts represented being Auckland, Main' Trunk centres, Hawke's Ray, Southern Wellington, Gisborne and tho Waikato. There was also present a Melbourne buyer, who, however, only made two purchases at a moderate fignro, The top price of the sale was 185 a/ -a.- paid by Mr 11. J. Lancaster for '■ :i Maiden, a Golden Crest— Neat Ma. heifer. There was good competition I sho bettor quality entries, but the very i.n'fl weather had a somewhat detrimental effect upon [he appearance of the animals. The yarding was numerically equal to la ' year's sale, and the financial result is stilled ly tho agents to be most satisfactory. The proportion of tho offering which was passed in was, in Uie heifers at least, very small, as under this heading only about 16 out of 108. failed to change hands.
