HONOURS SCANDAL.
NO MORE TOUTING FOR TITLES,
PENALTIES PROVIDED
LONDON, May 18. Touting for titles will be a misdemeanour in Great Britain if the bill introduced by the Lord Chancellor in the House of Lords becomes law.
It is described as the Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Bill, and provides that anyone obtaining, agreeing to accept, or attempting to obtain a gift for procuring, assisting, or endeavouring to procure a grant of a dignity or title of honour, and anyone giving, agreeing to give, or offering a gift, for procuring, assisting, or endeavouring to procure such a grant, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and liable ou conviction on indictment to imprisonment not exceeding two years, or a line not exceeding £SOO, or both, or, on summary conviction, to imprisonment not exceeding four months, or a line not exceeding £SO, or both.
