The (Inal function in connection with the Queen Carnival was held on the litli inst. The importance of the occasion drew a record crowd and the hull was packed to overflowing - . The newly-formed Fox ton town hand put in an early appearance and rendered a few items outside the building. The event of the evening was the crowning of the successful candidate, .Miss Cornelia Conlau, the Farmers’ Queen. The remaining candidates acted as maids of honour, and the following were llie coronation officials: Lord High Chancellor. Mi F. C. If a ikes; Lord High Chamberlain, Air .1. ,\. Nash, ALP.; Lord High liishop. Rev. Tremain; Lord High President, Mr G. P. CoLbett; Lord High Constable, Mr M. F. Perrc.au; Mistress of Robes, Miss AlcMuvray; Lord of the Realm, Mr J. Linklater, iI.IL; Court Trumpeter, Mr J. Holder; Director of Ceremonies, Mr J. K. Hornblow. The procedure was trumpet call and proclamation hv master ol ceremonies; eulaiico of Lord High Chamberlain, Lord High Chancellor and Carnival committee potentates; reading of warrant of election of Carnival Queen by Lord High Chamberlain; Lord 11 igh Chancellor directs master of ceremonies to escort. Queen and retinue; entrance of Queen, maids of honour, and attendants; National Anthem; coronation enthronement and recognition by Lord High Chancellor; flourish ol trumpets; all hail the Queen; reply from throne hv Lord High Chancellor; song by Air Osborne; presentation of maids of honour by mistress of the robes. At the conclusion of the ceremony the bestowal of coronation honours to the committees’ representatives and other workers took place, this unused a M-ood deal of humour into the proceedings ■is” different ladies and men were cubed from the audience to receive their respective “honours’’ from the newly-crowned Queen Mr Linklater performed the ceremony of placing the crown upon the Queen’s head and later Air Nash presented a gold bangle to the Queen elect, and also a gold bangle to each maid of honour, while the young train-bearers were each presented with n necklace. Suitable orations were delivered by Messrs and Linklater and were well received by the large audience. Mr Hornblow, as diecotor ot ceremonies, left no stone unturned in the execution of the many duties attached to that office and undoubtedly to limns great credit due for the efficient manner in winch the ceremony proceeded from beginning, to end After the singing ot Ru e Brdtama ami the National Anthem, the hall was prepared for dancing, and the floor was fa.veil to its full capacity during die Loyal Wall/. Iho music for this being played by All- Nadi. From this onwards dancing took "place until the early hours of the morning, Miss A. Hon.im supplying most of the. music, a.ud being ably assisted hj Mrs Dunn (Foxion), and Miss K McKenzie (Rainessc). Mr Christensen was ML. and kept tilings moving m Ins usual stvlc. An excellent, supper was provided, the task of supplying the crowd occupying a, considerable amount of time. Now that the carnival has been ended according to ceremony, wo desire to express our appreciation for all the help and support so readily and untiringly accorded Urn olio I, and as already announced, the hall com,nil lee intend holding a free dance at an early dale U> which is extended a most cordial welcome to all.
