TRAVELLED 12 MILES.
DAZED WOMAN IN NIGHTGOWN
SECRET SERVICE D.S.O,
MELBOURNE, March 6. A young woman who was found in a Williamstown street on Sunday morning, clad only in a nightgown, in which she had escaped from a private hospital on the other side of the city 18 hours grovibusly, proves to be Miss Allison Cole. She was formerly a British secret service agent, and was awarded the D.S.O. for war work. When found she was barely conscious, and unable to give an account of her experience. The police arc amazed that a woman should apparently have spent a day in her night attire and travelled ■ 12 miles without any questions being asked. A TOUCH OF MYSTERY. Two circumstances add mystery to the case. Neither Miss Cole's bare feet nor her silk nightgown were in any way soiled, and the nightgown had been tucked carefully under her feet, which suggests that she was placed on the footpath by someone. It is said that a day or two before her escape Miss Colo complained that shells were bursting round the hospital. Apparently she sustained shellshock during the war.
