MEETING OP SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The school committee held its monthly meeting on Monday last, there being,present: Messrs J. Hode*on Ram* soy D Snecdv. and D. Wells. In the absence of Mr i\ Hanford, Mr * Wells was voted to the chair. , The head-teacher reported that the board had put in hand the necessary works tor the relaying of tire drains. The .committee recorded its appreciation of the extremely prompt and courteous Way in which its request for this very necessary work had been dealt with bv the board’s officials. . A letter from the board was received congratulating the school, stuff and pupils on recent successes in various competitions. Arrangements for Friday’s picnic were completed. All that now remains to. make a successful day is good weather., k ™ noted that the Hon. D. H. Guthrie, for the district, had promised to attend, TENNIS CLUB’S OPENING DAY* A meeting of the provisional coramittM of the Tennis Club was held on Monday evening, when it wan arranged that tho formal opening of the' court should take place on the 10th, providing the. weather . is suitable. Considerable discussion took place on a motion to rescind.the resolution passed at the last meeting fixing the subscription at 10s fid. The rescinding motion was eventually carried and the .rate of subscription has now been fixed at tr per annum. _____
