TIRED OF IDLENESS.
SEAMEN WILL RETURN TO WORK
EMPLOYERS’ TERMS TO BE ACCEPTED.
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan, 22. Although no information was given out after tho meeting of seamen at Lyttelton this morning, there is no doubt that the strike is ended as far as Lyttelton is concerned, and that union labour will be offering to-morrow. The men will go back on the employers’ “terms. Tho strikers generally are pleased with the settlement, and it is felt that they have been the victims of blunders by the union officials in Wellington. The prospects of employment are not bright. Tho Canopus, which Has been lying in the stream since Wednesday requires two seamen and if they are forthcoming she will sail for Westport to-morrow. The Oniiii comes out of dock to-morrow and will require a complete crew, and the Opua is in the same position. Tho Storm leaves for Picton and Wanganui to-night and may pick up union sea men in the North Island. The Waikouaiti, which is due at Lyttelton on Wednesday from Sydney, may have vacancies if the non-unionists sign off.
