DISPUTE IN AUSTRALIA, SETTLEMENT NOT EFFECTED. Received dune 10, 10.20 a.in. SYDNEY, dune 10. The sitting; of tl ic coal tribunal is considering a now log. The colliery proprietors tiro asking for the rointrocluction of 1 rout and back shifts and a reduction of miners’ wages. The tribunal was unable to effect a settlement of the dispute and adjourned the matter to the 20th hist, to enable the miners to consider further the owners’ claims. An application by the miners for a long adjournment, to enable an appeal to be made to the High Court was refused on the grounds that the matter was an urgent one and should be disposed of by tlie tribunal at the earliest possible date.—Press Association.
