THE CHILDREN'S HOME.
Reference lo All Saints' Children's Home is ma.de in the May number of Active Service, the monthly paper issued by the Wellington Diocesan Social Service Hoard. On the front page appears a photograph of tile children ill the home, and a plea is, made for financial assistance from distant parts of the diocese in order to carry out several projected undertakings—building alterations to permit of an increase of 14 beds, a new asphalted playing area for healthful exercise, and the raising of £2OO, which is the balance required for the sea side vocal ion collage al Foxton beach, U is pointed out that Palmerston North and surrounding districts are splendidly supporting the instil in ion which, however, "mothers" children from all pans of the diocese, hence the present appeal. A shore history of the home, written by the Rev, 11. ti. Blackburne, and notes by tho matron, Mrs Spensley, and. Mr S. M. Moore also appear in Active Service, li is pointed out by Mr Blackburne that Arch-. deacon Harper, when vicar of Palmerston North, founded the borne in 1906, and since that time it lias been maintained by the people of All Saints', with very little outside help, yet 80 pier cent, of the children are from districts apari from Palmerston North. A new building is required. and now thai the mortgage on the present. one is almost extinguished efforts to raise the money will bo made as soon as possible. The inmates are kopl till 13 or 14 years of agc\ when the boys generally go io farm work and the girls to domestic Bei'vico or oihov occupations. Until eighteen years of age they are under the control of the home authorities and most of their wages are banked for them.
