MANAWATU REMITS DEALT WITH.

REFERENCE TO MEAT POOL ,

'At the .Fanners' Union Conference, which opened in Wanganui on Tuesday, the following renins from the Manawatu subprovincial district were dealt with : That this meeting is strongly of opinion that the present Meat Export Board should eventually he made to represent every branch of the farming industry, and every effort should be made by our executives to bring this about.---Air K. W. Dalrymple moved as an amendment that the words "an export board" should lie substituted. The president (Mr Hugh Morrison) said they could not suggest a pool of poultry, fruit and honey at the present time. It was for those producers to say if they wanted a poo!. H was finally agreed to and passed as a motion: "Thai an export hoard should be eventually formed to represent every branch of the fanning industry.'' That the Farmers' Union tenders the Meat Export Board hearty support in view of the responsible task il has undertaken, and the problems which are to be solved.— Endorsed without discussion, That the Fanners' Union desires legislative assistance for the Meal Export Board, bit* is not in favour of prolonged financial backing by the Government or further extension of Government control. — Carried. That when any member ceases io occupy a. seat on the Meal Export Board, the remaining members of the Hoard in conjunction with the Farmers' Union executives be entitled io nominate candidates and have the power of electing one to till the vacancy on the board.—Mr A. Buchanan said that the remit was one of policy. The Farmers' Union was the most representative of the farmers. The president said that the election was provided for by Statute and he did not, think that the conference could ask for an alteration. The remit was withdrawn. That before arranging freight rates with one or more shipping companies, the Board of Control should carefully consider whether they can secure better results by working jointly with the National Dairy and other Producers' Associations.—Withdrawn. That it is desirable to consider whether the functions of the intelligence and advisory department in London may successfully include the. supplying of market, advices to all contributory producers' associations in (he Dominion. —Withdrawn.
