MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A general committee meeting of (he Manawatu and West (.'oast A. and P. Association was held this morning, the president (Mr 11. V. l.othbridgo) being in the chair. CORRESPONDENCE. from ihe Manawatu Rugby Union advising that it had accepted a contract for eliccting certain improvements to the lighting of the iraining shed on the Showgrounds.—Received. from the Palmerston Ncrth Borough Council notifying that Crs. Canton and Oram had been re-appointed its representatives on the committee of the association. From R. M. McKnight . thanking the association for having appointed him a life member, but expressing the wish that he should still be allowed to remain on the lisi of contributing members. From the Canterbury A. and P. Association forwarding a copy of the following remit recently adopted with regard to the construction of the Department of Agriculture and the reeonstituliou of the Board of Agriculture:--That the New Zealand Council of .Agriculture as at present constituted to eh-ct eight representatives on the hoard of Agriculture, four representing the, North Island, and four representing die South 1.-laud, and the New Zealand Government to appoint two representatives—the Minister of Agriculture to be president of the board. The Board of Agriculture io have full control of ihe policy, general administration and officers of the present Department of Agriculture and of agricultural education in general. The board Io meel at least four time,- per annum to discuss ihe policy of ihe Department of Agriculture.—lt was decided to consider the matler at the conference of North Island A. and P. Associations to be held at Palmerston North during the forthcoming winter show.
