“ WHITE AUSTRALIA.”
PRINCIPLE IN DANGER.
Received August 11, 9.L") a.m. SYDNEY, August 10
The Sun newspaper, in an article' on the “White, Australia” policy, states that the question of whether the principle of policy of a white, Australia, is in jeopardy must finally be answered by the end of tho year at the conference in Geneva, when life Australian mandate in the Pacific is promulgated. The paper states that secret diplomacy still precludes the public from knowing all that happens between the Chancelleries, but there is the very best reason for stating that Japan very decidedly upon several occasions endeavoured to render the white Australia policy abortive, and that she will undoubtedly attempt to destroy it again at Geneva, when the policy may be canvassed in far more than a detached and academic spirit. There will be a greater number of delegates with a greater number of votes, which may swing for or against Australia, and once a decision is reached Australia must either , submit nr break away from ‘ the 1 League ol Nations. The Sun states that unless Ministers arc able to honestly affirm that the integrity of the white Australia policy will not be upset at Geneva, a delegation should be despatched to Geneva to urge the claims of the white Australia policy.—(Press Association.)
