(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) BERLIN, July 7. Tho anthracite miners in Dessau have struck, and the smelters and metal workers have struck at Saar bracken. Both strikes are for increased wages. Tho miners and railwayman have decided to support the strikers, and tho Government therefore is likely to intervene. —(A. and N.Z. cab.e).

LONDON, July 7._ The Miners’ Federation has accepted the executive’s recommendations to demand increased wages and also a reduction in the price of coal.-(A. and N.Z. cable).

RATES FOR SHEARING. MELBOURNE, July 8. Negotiations arc in progress between tho pastoralists and the Australian Workers Union with regard to shearing and other matters affecting the pastoral industry. There are prospects of a satisfactory settlement for the whole of tne Commonwealth. The shearers are asking that the rates be fixed on tho basis of those ruling in Queensland. — (Press Association).
