The following telegram lias been received by the Governor-General from the Secretary of State for the Colonies:—"The following telegram has been sent at the request of the Lord Mayor of London, President of the Appeal Committee. The i Imperial War Famine Fund has been launched here. It is an appeal to combat starvation and disease jri Europo »ud the Near East. The patron is his Majesty the King supported by the Prune Minister, the I>ord Chancellor; and the leaders of all political parties, including .the Churches, I/asx>ur organisations, naval and military services, and medical profession, with the co-operation of the British Red Cross and the Order of St, John and the League of the Red Cross Societies. H is coniended to co-ordinate and concentrate upon o, British effort for the relief of one of the most terrible tragedies in history arid an impressive Imperial movement hj looked for. The funds will lie administered through the Rod Cross, and approved agencies The- telegram was considered -at a meeting of the executive of the Red Cross yesterday and it was decided that the local committees should receive any subscriptions forthcoming and arrange to remit the money so subscribed.
