ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED.

AT WORKING MEN’S CLUB

A handsome roll of honour board of cm bossed copper, on which is engraved tli< names of the twenty-six members of tin Palmerston North Working Men’s Club win made the supreme sacrifice in the Grea War, was unveiled in the Club billian room last night by the Mayor (Mr J. A Nash, M.P.) The list contains the follow ing names; —Lieuts. G. Ackhurst, U. G, Fowler, J. 11. Gray, N. H, Jickell, Capts .1. Bishop, V. A. Kebab, 11, Palmer; Sei-geants-Major L. Mouli, R. M, Quinn, B Wocdhead; Sergeants J. Jamieson, R Manoy, A. McDonald; Corporal J. C. M Dunlop; Lance Co poral O. Anderson; Gunner J. 11. Carson, and Privates B. Boock, J). Bruce, A. E. Burson, W. Constance, J. W, Fisher, L. Ford, F. C, Mills, 11. A. VVahrcn, G. Wright, and 0. 11. Gillies.

In unveiling the hoard, MV Nash paid a feeling tribute to the sacrifices (lie brave men had paid in the cause of human liberty. lie suggested 1 hat a gold medal suitably inscribed should be given to the next of kin of all men who had fallen to be handed down from generation to genera Hon. ’I he roll of honour board was not only for the present but should be an example to generations to come of the selfsacrifice of their forbears.

At the conclusion Mr W. IT. Bartlett (president of the Club) mentioned that another roll of honour containing the names of the returned men would shortly Ik* erected.
