The generous support given to.the Maiiawatu Racing Club's summer meeting (to iv held December 26, 27 and 29). by owners throughout the Dominion is q, fitting reward [or the patriotic spirit shown by that club during the war.' The epiabty of the horses engaged in the long acceptance list has never in the history bf the club been excelled, and record fields will be seen out in nearly all tho events. The track is a ready i.i good order, while it is doubtful it the lawns, shrubberies and flower plots have ever shown to better advantage. Altogether the prospects of a record meeting seem assured. There are 19 carded in the Manawatu Cup, Client being at the top ot the list, and as he is said to be well, 0..0 will not prevent him from putting up. a good race. Nobleman (3.9) is a doubtful starter owing to his being afflicted at present with an ailment. Crenides won the Woodyille Handicap in fine style, ami is now one of the most fancied Cup candidates. Lower down the list First Salute. Hurry Up. Athens 11. and Demos can be dotted down as possibilities. The 20 animals engaged in the Fil/herbert Handicap aro a speedy lot, including Acre, Onslaught, Croesus. Wahnalao, Jutland,' Astinome, Birkenvale, and Bonny Briar, and the English-bred Arrowsnnth. The last-mentioned won the Flying Hack at Woodville in such impressive fashion that tho handsome son of Chaucer—Sagitta can be ticked off" to keep Jutland, Acre, Chimera and Co. busy throughout the trip. AUCKLAND: Dec, 15. Mangamahoo was scratched for the Auckland Cup at 1.45 p^rn.
