BUNNYTHORPE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The anniversary of. tho Methodist Sunday school was continued on Tuesday. ; lea was served between live and seven o clock and was largely attended, and was followed by a public meeting presided over by Mr I R. Dodder. In lus opening remarks Mr 11 odder complimented the Sunday school on its progress during tho year. Anthems suitable tor tho occasion were rcndcicd b.V tho choir, and the Rev Ashcroft gave a short address. The report ami balance-sheet showed tho Sunday school had a most successful year. There was a balance ol £1 to commence the. new year, the report showed that there were 61 scholars on the roll, which is about the; same number as last your. Four scholars qualified to have their names placed on tho roll of honoui, namclv, George Mahno, James ( level/, Willia Mahno, Willie Jeffries and None Mahno. The report gave a good idea ot the work carried out by the teachers, and thunks are duo to those; who so willingly _ .rive their time for tho children s welfare. Mrs Ashcroft presented,, tho prizes won during .tho year by tho following;— Jean Mahno, Nellie Stewart, bred Godfrey, Jack Currie, Rona Carter, Eunice Eggloton, Mavis Wood, Connie Carter, Walter Clcvoly, Austin Mahno, Maud Godfrey, Nvra Edwards, Grace- Andrew lolly Egglcton, George Mahno, Willie Jeffries, James Clcvoly, None Mahno. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded all those who had helped to make thq gathering a success. During tho past week tlm following soldiers arrived homo after doing their Jury to their country, and all arc looking fairly well: Sergeant J. Scheldt Rifleman, E. Sutherland, Private M. Tierney, Private °At*a'mfeting of the Patriotic committee it was decided to change the date of the welcome home from tho 241h to Wednesday, 30th April, i , • ,i i Tho school football team during the past week played two friendly matches with the Taonni and Newbury schools. Roth matches, were play ed on the recreation ground, l.ic former match ended in a-draw (6 points all), and in the latter the Bunnythorpe boys were successful by 36. points to 6. Mr Edward Clevely gave every satisfaction as referee in both matches.
